The Mammut Alugator Light Shovel is made from tempered and anodized aluminium. The metal has been treated to increase its resistance against corrosion and wear by increasing its strength and surface hardness. The base of the extendable shaft of the Alugator Light is integrated into the shovel blade, which makes for an extremely stable shovel design without excess weight. The extendable shaft allows for a small packing volume, as well as, a large excavating angle for ideal lifting action and efficient shovelling. The triangular-shaped shaft allows for very effortless deployment and absorbs torsional forces that it will encounter while digging in hard and/or heavy snowpacks. It also offers a better grip than round shafts.
