The Dozer 1T-UL is BCA's ultralight avalanche shovel for people who travel fast and light. BCA cored out the blade to shave weight without giving up strength, and kept the low-profile stompable edge, cored-out handle, and ovo-concave shaft from the rest of the Dozer line. The shaft shape is designed to resist breaking while prying and gives you a better grip in your palm. It's certified to the UIAA 156 standard for avalanche rescue shovels.

BUYERS' GUIDE
This is for people counting grams on long tours and ski mountaineering days. At 435 g it's about 110 g lighter than the standard Dozer 1T, and it uses stronger 7075 aluminum to keep the weight down without giving up durability. The tradeoff is blade size. It has the standard blade, so it moves less snow per scoop than the large-blade Dozers, like the 2T. If you're mostly doing shorter day tours and want more digging power, the 2T is a better fit. If you want to save even more weight, the Mammut Alugator Ultra is lighter at 395 g. Whichever shovel you carry, practice digging with it before you need it, and keep it with a beacon and probe you know how to use.
