Built specifically for ski touring rather than resort freeriding, the Alproof Tour 36+5 SL pairs the same Alpride E2 electronic airbag system as our other Alproof packs with a roll-top main compartment that expands for multi-day traverses.
The SL fit is Deuter's women's-specific back system, shorter and shaped for a woman's anatomy rather than a shortened men's pack, so the carry is genuinely dialed in rather than just downsized. A reinforced compartment for your shovel blade and handle, gear loops, a rope fixation belt, and roll-top volume expansion make this equally at home on a demanding day tour or a multi-day hut trip. Like our other Alproof packs, the Alpride E2 system deploys fast and at high pressure even in freezing conditions, with multiple deployments possible from a single charge and no cartridges to manage.

BUYERS' GUIDE
The key difference between this and the Alproof 32 is purpose, this one is rated 5/5 for ski touring and snowshoeing versus 3/5 for freeriding, while the 32 leans the other way. If you're mostly doing lift-served or resort-adjacent freeride laps with the odd tour, the 32 is the better fit. If your season is built around ski touring, hut trips, and multi-day traverses, the roll-top expansion and shovel-specific compartment on this one earn their keep. On the SL fit itself: this isn't a men's pack with a shorter strap, Deuter builds the whole carry system around a different back length range (38-48 cm here vs 44-54 cm on the standard Alproof 32) and body height range (158-178 cm), so if you're outside that range, the standard fit will likely serve you better regardless of gender. As with any Alpride E2 pack, check your charge level before every outing, not just at the start of the season, and don't skip clipping in the leg strap, it's what keeps the pack on your body if you actually need the airbag to do its job.
