This is a solid pick if you want a no-nonsense touring pack at a fair price. The separate safety compartment is the feature to look at. It keeps your shovel and probe apart from your other gear, so you can grab them fast. The side access zipper is handy on a cold transition, since you can reach a layer or a snack without unloading your skis. Ortovox rates it 5/5 for ski touring but only 3/5 for freeride, so it’s built for the uphill and the tour, not for resort laps or heavy gear. Check the D-Skifix width if you’re carrying wide skis.
